• Coblentz Represents Acquisition of Tradar Limited to Eze Software Group

    Coblentz’s Business Chair, Paul Tauber, represented Tradar Limited in its acquisition by Eze Software Group, an independent provider of global, multi-asset class investment technology backed by leading global private investment firm, TPG.  Tradar specializes in accounting and portfolio management software for hedge funds and other asset managers and will be part of the Eze Software Group.  Eze Software Group offers investment management software products from front office to back office with a fully integrated global platform.  Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. DAC Beachcroft LLP served as UK counsel for Tradar in this cross border transaction.

  • Daniel Kahneman in Conversation with Jonathan Bass

    On April 2, 2013 Coblentz Partner Jon Bass spoke at the Herbst Theater in conversation with psychologist Daniel Kahneman as part of the City Arts & Lectures series on Art & Politics.

    Daniel Kahneman is one of the most influential living psychologists. Along with his late collaborator, Amos Tversky, Kahneman is credited with founding the study of behavioral economics. In 2002, Kahneman won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his research on the irrational ways in which humans make decisions about risk. Based on his decades of study with Tversky, Kahneman’s recent book, Thinking Fast and Slow, is an exploration of the psychological basis for reactions, judgments, recognition, choices, conclusions, and much more. Kahneman is a Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus at the Woodrow Wilson School, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University, and a fellow of the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

    Jonathan Bass is a partner at the law firm of Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP. Bass graduated cum laude from Yale University with a degree in Russian language and literature. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1977. He is a long-time advisor to City Arts & Lectures.

  • Intellectual Property Alert: New Trademark Clearinghouse Helps Trademark Owners Police Domain Names

    As Internet use grows exponentially, the Internet is soon to be opened up to more than a thousand new “top level domains.”  These will be in addition to the current 22 top level domains, such as .com, .org, .net, and others.  The new top level domains range from generic terms, such as lawyer and auction, to company names.  To help trademark owners police the possibility of their marks being used in domain names across these many new top level domains and domain name registries, a centralized Trademark Clearinghouse  (“TMCH”) has been created to be a single central registry for registered trademarks.  Click here to read the alert.

  • Coblentz Counsels Kabbage Inc. in Securing $75 Million Credit Facility

    Corporate partner Paul Tauber represented Atlanta-based Kabbage Inc. in securing a $75 million credit facility from Victory Park Capital and Thomvest Ventures. Kabbage Inc. is the leading online provider of small business financing.
