Paul Escobosa’s years of experience as a corporate CEO, CFO and CMO prior to launching his law career give him a particularly keen insight into the practicalities and complexities of business. Since beginning his legal practice in 1975, he has counseled businesses of all sizes to reach optimal positions that preserve their integrity—and their value.

From startups to large private companies, Paul helps his clients start, buy, sell, and operate businesses of nearly every type, with deep experience in the automotive, food and beverage, and hospitality industries, as well as "people" businesses like law, accounting, architecture, advertising and marketing, consulting and engineering firms.

He’s an expert at shepherding entrepreneurs through the corporate, partnership, and limited liability formation process. He has also counseled many prominent Bay Area executives in commection with their employment and compensation arrangements.

Paul works throughout the U.S., and Europe—he has lived in Brussels, Rome and London—and is skilled in complex cross-border transactions.

Professional Activities

Paul has served on museums' corporate boards, and has lectured and consulted on business buy-out agreements for the California Continuing Education of the Bar.

Paul has served on the boards of various nonprofit organizations, including the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, and Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley (French-American school), work for which the nation of France awarded him the Étoile Civique.

Education

Paul graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in Economics (1966) and a master's degree in Business Administration (1968). After working in executive positions in various industries, he earned his law degree at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. At Hastings, he was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Thurston Society.
