Hons Yung

Associate

Hons Yung is an associate in the firm's Family Wealth group.  He counsels and works closely with families and individuals to design, create, and implement estate plans focused on minimizing estate, gift, income, and property taxes.  Through the use of various estate planning vehicles, including revocable living trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), "defective" grantor trusts, grantor-retained annuity trusts (GRATs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), family partnerships and LLCs, and charitable trusts, Hons tailors estate plans that are tax efficient and, most importantly, fit each client's personal needs and objectives.  Whether in the realm of estate planning, trust and estate administration, or taxation, Hons has the unique ability to present complex concepts both clearly and concisely.

Hons began his legal career as an estate planning associate at Haas & Najarian, LLP.  Prior to law school, Hons was a court clerk in the Probate Department of the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco.

Hons is a contributing author to for the firm’s Law on Purpose blog, which provides insights into the emerging space of social enterprise and impact investing.

Hons is a member of the State Bar of California.

Education

In 2004, Hons received his B.A. in English, with a minor in Legal Studies, from the University of San Francisco.  In 2011, Hons received his J.D., with a concentration in Taxation, from Golden Gate University School of Law, where he was on the Dean's List, was a Merit Scholarship Recipient, was a member of the Jesse W. Carter Society, was the winner of the 2009 Appellate Advocacy Competition, and received the 2011 Scribes American Society of Legal Writers Award and CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Appellate Advocacy, Evidence, International Business Transactions, and Legal Writing and Research.  In 2012, Hons also received his LL.M. in Taxation, with honors, from Golden Gate University School of Law.
